R.T.O grant to Paso.

St. Paul’s Centre provided the location of the annual Paso Por Paso pancake brunch. Janice Napp, president of District 17 R.T.O. (Retired Teachers of Ontario), presented Paso with a cheque that assisted the Orillia group in the building of a roof over the concrete playground of the remote village school in Tierra Linda, Guatemala.
Each year R.T.O. grants monies under their Project Service to Others and District Grants to local not for profits. Charities and organizations with R.T.O. members can apply both at the district and provincial level. Paso’s grant came from the District Grant. R.T.O.’s aim is to make the public aware that teachers are still very active in the local community and abroad after retirement.
Janice Knapp is photographed with Paso president Doris Middleton accepting the cheque. The annual pancake brunch includes many other R.T.O. members supporting Paso’s efforts.

Pancake Brunch success

Paso Por Paso’s annual Pancake Brunch and craft sale raised over $1000 for the local organization. All of the proceeds will go towards the many projects Paso is involved with in the Panajachel area of Guatemala. Many thanks to Judith Rapson for organizing the event and to Steve Moreland who coordinated the preparation of the delicious sausages and pancakes and to Dale Duncan for the craft table. The many Paso members and friends helping with the setup, food preparation and clean up assisted greatly in making the day a success.
Fred Fallis organized the Earth Day quiz and the Dick Johnson table was the winner and they each received key chains for their knowledge about Earth Day related events..
